First Response: Course prerequisites and preparation
Your preparation prior to attending a First Response practical program involves completing an online e-Learning module and some web based pre-reading.
You will need approximately two to three hours to undertake your pre-reading.
Compulsory pre-program preparation (online)
1. neoResus e-Learning module (online)
You will be sent a link to complete the e-Learning module once you have enrolled in the First Response face-to-face program.
2. Pre-reading- From the NeoResus website, under Learning Modules
– Learning module 1- Key Concepts and Guidelines
– Learning module 4- Post Resuscitation Care
In addition, you should print and read, or view the following powerpoint presentations:
- neoResus “First Response” (in Presentations)
- Operating and troubleshooting a T-piece device (Neopuff Infant Resuscitator)
- Operating and troubleshooting a self-inflating bag
2. Video Series- From the NeoResus website, under Presentations & Videos
- Video 1: Setting up and trouble-shooting a T-piece device (Neopuff™)
- Video 2: Mask placement and positive pressure ventilation
- Video 3: Mask ventilation using self-inflating bag
- Video 4: External cardiac compressions
- Video 5: Laryngeal mask LM/Supraglottic airway SGA
On the day of your training program you will need to bring the following items with you:
- A pen
- Your ID badge or lanyard
